Prior to submitting research protocols for review and approval by the IACUC, IBC, or IRB, all research personnel listed on a study, regardless of their role, must complete courses in the web-based Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI) Program.

HIPAA Training

Research activities that involve the access, recording, or use of private information must comply with HIPAA regulations. All research personnel involved with such activities must complete valid HIPAA training. The ORRC and HU Hospital offer suitable HIPAA trainings for researchers and other research personnel.

Certificates of Confidentiality (COCs) protect information, documents, and/or biospecimens that contain identifiable, sensitive information related to a research participant.

Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR) Training Workshop

The Howard University Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR) Training Workshop is designed to provide graduate students with information and training on research ethics and integrity. The objective of the RCR workshop is to discuss and provide knowledge-based tools to address the often complex issues which confront scholars during the course of their research careers.
