Laboratory Safety Committee
The HU Laboratory Safety Committee is responsible for promoting and ensuring a safe working environment in all research and teaching laboratories. The committee provides oversight, guidance, and support to maintain compliance with safety regulations and to foster a culture of safety among faculty, staff, and students.
Goals and Objectives

Review findings from laboratory safety inspections and incidents to recommend improvements and preventive measures.

Collaborate with Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) to establish strategies for ongoing hazard identification, surveillance, and risk evaluation of laboratory activities

Promote a culture of safety consciousness, accountability, and education within the institution.
Membership
The Laboratory Safety Committee is composed of at least two Howard University practicing scientists from various academic units.
Meetings
The Laboratory Safety Committee meets on an ad-hoc basis, when a relatable concern is raised.
